Toasty Cool!

Shannon, Poet, Ethan and Aaron celebrated Shannon's birthday on the Rogue River. They were joined by Kathy and Alan of the United Kingdom, and Amanda and Jo from Monterey, California. As the temperatures topped out at 108 degrees, the best place to be was not only on the water, but in the water!

The birthday girl paddled the rapids in an inflatable kayak with grace and finesse. Amanda, Jo, Ethan, Aaron, and Poet shared river time in the inflatables also. Kathy and Alan were great company on the raft and shared adventure stories, history lessons, and water gun battles with the rest of the group.

Happy, cheerful laughter echoed through the canyons as this group of strangers soon became fast friends. Thank you all for sharing a bit of your summer time cheer here on a Rogue River Raft Trip!

Wave Therapy

Good ole wave therapy took care of the heat today! Mike, Denise, Alex, and Ben enjoyed a ride on the river to break up their travels north on I-5. Great trip planning allowed time to beat the heat. Alex and Ben compared notes and tried to determine which rapid had the best ride. The results? They need to recalculate and do it again. Sounds like a great plan to us!

Steve, Linda, Jason, Kristin and Tyler were hearty paddlers and negotiated the rapids in style. In between therapy sessions, there was time to jump, squirt and roll out of the boat. Drifting along in the Boat Coats has been the second most popular activity during this heat wave. We hope you will all be back for more Wave Therapy! Thanks for a great day.

Don Quixote and the Rogue River

Pairing up a week end of play viewing and rafting the Rogue River is a very favorite past time. It is a short drive from Ashland to paddle the rapids. Alanna, Laura, and Ann discovered what the team work was all about today in their great ride from Hog Creek to Galice. This seven mile run had the paddlers ready for more action. After the Half Day Raft trip, they were off to see Don Quixote at the Oregon Shakespearean Festival for more action-packed adventure. Thanks for paddling the Rogue with us!

No Work, All Play

Ron, Dan, Jesse, Griffin and Gavin have been living by the rule: No Work, All Play! While camping at Griffin Park, they decided to get a rafting trip in to beat the heat. What a fun group of people! There was plenty of stories, a little swimming, and water fights, and good cheer that lasted all day.

John, Don, and their daughters, Sara and Chelsea joined in for a Half Day rafting/kayaking trip. The dads started out paddling in the kayaks and then traded with their girls midway through the trip. Camping at Indian Mary Park completed the dream trip in the great outdoors.

Thanks guys for coming out to play. Life is definitely good!

Pirate Attack

You wouldn't believe there could be a pirate attack on the Rogue, but let us assure you it can happen! Give a young boy or his grandmother a powerful squirt gun and some targets and you get pirates! it was very interesting how the targets changed and shifted through out the day.

Dan the Man was in an inflatable kayak. He has been bitten by the river fever and travels rivers everywhere he can when traveling. He was a remarkable paddler in some great whitewater. Sherri and Amber took time out from a family reunion to float the water in the morning. It was a warm day and the deer were standing and feeding in the water early.

Jo and Ronnie, Kenny and Diane were a fearless crew. Each took a turn on the front of the raft, swimming in the river and young Kenny even managed to row the boat when not look for targets.
It was a terrific day on the river. Come back soon!

Let's Do Launch!

The ladies in Purple graduated from the class of 1967 in Lakeview, Oregon and then moved to the far reaches of the United States. What better way to celebrate life long friendships than gathering together on the Rogue River? The girls were delightful with their varied ideas of calendars from O'Brien's Guides, reminders for Tim to 'kiss the cook', and of course, the purple sequined hats!

Denise and Steve brought the boys for an outdoor adventure also. They were thrilled to see the wildlife, shoot the rapids and test out the inflatables. Reilly really showed some style as he worked his way through the rapids and Michael learned all the details of Class I, II, and III rapids. The whole family took a turn swimming and cooling off in the water.

All Bob and crew were taken down the Mighty Rogue by River Guide Wayne. Wayne had a lot of stories to share and some of them were even believable! The super stars were Autumn, Robert, and Brandon who bravely rode the rapids in front on the bow of the big orange boat.

With the temperatures soaring into the 100's, there wasn't a better way to spend the day! Thank you to one and all for and enjoyable day.

Float the Rogue River

John and Linda Sue brought the whole crew for some fun in the sun on the Rogue River. There was a little of everything including an amazing rock skipping challenge after lunch. The paddling rides in the inflatable kayak will not soon be forgotten and the fantastic venture in Rooster Tail will be remembered at family get togethers for a good long time.
A wonderful family vacation was enjoyed by all of us at O'Brien's. Thanks for floating the Rogue with us!
