Girls Galore!

David and Scott may have been outnumbered 13 to 2 on the river, but they didn't seem to mind! Mingling family vacations and Girl Scouts out for the Adventure Badge made a great combination of fun, water fights and fearless paddling! Karen, Jackie, Christy, Scott and David traveled down from Seattle area to test the waters in both the raft and inflatable kayaks. Stacy, Aggie, Kaari, Amy, Zelda, and Amber journeyed from Tacoma to obtain the Girl Scout High Adventure Badge.

There were some fantastic rides through many rapids! Karen was awarded the whitewater floating position in Galice and Amy earned a special honor in Argo. The jousting session was fantastic with balancing acts from everyone. Jackie and David took turns or rode together through many of the rapids on the bow of the boat in great style!

Mid afternoon we were able to view a black bear eating lunch along the river bank that consisted of river weed and blackberries. The young cub didn't seem to mind the company and of course we all agreed that was another badge: Black Bear on the Water! Thanks for a great trip full of good cheer and adventure.

Gold Panning on the Rogue

Beating the heat with Jeff and Tammi was a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon with temperatures soaring up to 110 degrees in the Rogue Valley. We lunched at a beautiful spot in the shade with the tables and chairs set up in the water. After a lunch time swim, River Guide, Tim rowed the crew downstream to a "Secret-Gold-Panning-Site"! Jeff dug low, Kari scouted high and between all of the digging, swishing, laughing and looking they discovered Gold in them-there hills! Of course the tiny flakes look magnified in the water, but the color in the pan was still very exciting.

We found more swimming holes to keep cool in on such a warm day. Tammi decided to ride the bull through Lower Argo and looked like a pro. It was a terrific day on the river with Jeff and Tammi: great river companions, friends and terrific gold prospectors!

Shakespeare and Rafting

Visitors to the Oregon Shakespearean Festival love to take a break between plays and visit the Rogue River. Mike, Nancy and Martha selected the morning Half Day Trip to float through Hellgate Canyon and enjoy the morning air, light and fragrance of the willows and blackberries along the river. It was truly a Midsummer Night's Dream to be on the Rogue! The play goers were ready to return to more Shakespeare and the Comedy of Errors.

Joining us at the midpoint for a Half Day Afternoon float were Ted and Barbara of Florida. They viewed an abundance of wildlife along the banks of the Rogue River. After chartering trips in Alaska, yachting around the Florida Keys, they traded in their ocean going boats to try out the inflatable kayaks! What a great ride!

Southern Oregon Vacation on the Rogue River

People have come from all over the world to visit the Rogue River! Today was no different as Belgium, Berkley and The Beavers of Oregon State were represented. All happy rafters spent the day in the inflatable kayaks and all had some sea kayaking experience. The group of strong paddlers made it look so easy. The weather was very warm, the water was cool and refreshing, and the guests were so interesting. We were quite sure they would have been content to settle in for the evening in the kayaks on the riverbank at lunch time, but there were more rapids to conquer! Thank you to Camille, Victoria, Serena, Reyna, and Jeff for a great day out on the water! Enjoy the pictures of your Southern Oregon Vacation!

Bear Watching On The Rogue River

Rafting with Gary and Debbie for a Half Day Whitewater Rafting Trip was a real treat!. We were lucky enough to see so much wildlife including osprey, great blue herons, river otter, jumping salmon, muskrats, deer...and even BEAR! We were mesmerized by the little black bear that was eating berries while we were eating lunch above a rapid named Widowmaker. We watched the little guy for about twenty minutes and took pictures (while keeping our distance!) before moving on to big whitewater!

It was a pleasure to meet up with Beverly of the Rogue Forest Bed and Breakfast. Gary and Debbie have been staying at the Rogue Forest B&B and were raving about the cozy cabin, the delicious breakfast, and the peaceful surroundings. Thanks to everyone for a fun and exciting trip!

"It is SO beautiful here! It looks like Disney came down and did the landscaping!"
-Debbie while admiring the beauty of the Rogue!

Honeymoon on the Rogue River

Jennifer and Michael were married a week ago and today they were paddling inflatable kayaks down the Rogue River as part of their honeymoon trip! Jennifer led the way through the rapids and took a wild ride in Chair. (Thats a sneaker rapid and it is called The Chair because it is electrifying!!). Michael and Jennifer shared an avid interest in the Rogue River Canyon. Michael is a true romantic at heart and even found flowers to give to his new bride along the banks of the river.

Congratulations! We wish you a healthy and happy life together with many more rivers to run!

Whitewater Action on the Rogue River

Our guests today were from Oregon, California and Austria! Everyone enjoyed the inflatable kayaks and blue rocket boat! We witnessed some aggressive whitewater action by the strong paddlers, some featured Class II and III spills and families enjoying one another in the Rogue Wilderness.

The Rogue River has a special way of bringing families together with memories that are shared over and over from the easy floating through the spectacular river canyons to the wild ride in the whitewater to the water fights that leaves no one dry to the leisurely lunches of freshly prepared foods. Living the Dream is the motto for the season with O'Brien's Rogue River Outfitters.
