Stimulus Package!

Ok, here is our version of a Southern Oregon 'Stimulus Package': Take one big orange raft, some great food, an awesome guide and big fast waves...add a happy family ready for some fun in the sun, and you have the Original Rogue River Rafting Stimulus Package!

The big orange raft is an 18 foot long Rogue Inflatable becomes a Rogue River Racer on days like today! Water Levels are running about 3,650 cfs!

Thunder in the Canyon

Miss June has come to the Rogue Valley full of thundering sighs and rain. This June weather is fantastic as it warms up to a sultry high of 90 degrees and then the thunder begins to erupt across the canyons and echo from mountain range to mountain range. All of the precipitation is making a very healthy vegetation cover and keeping the water flows at a high average.

Wishing you joy in the morning and peace in the evening, and a reason to celebrate in every of weather you encounter! We have no bad weather on the Rogue River, just occasional poor choices of clothing!

June Water Levels

It is the first of June and the water flow on the Rogue River is healthy. It is running about 3,000 cfs (cubic feet per second) which makes the late spring white water full of fun and excitement. This also makes for excellent quality of life for the fish, animals and plants of the river corridor.
Hey, quality of life is what it is all about!

Heat Wave

The air temperatures are creeping upwards and nearly reaching 100 degrees here in the Rogue Valley. Never fear, we have the perfect cure for that! Wave therapy on the Rogue River! The water is still at a spring time swell and that makes for fun, fast waves.

Come and join us for some wave therapy and beat the heatwave, but be warned, all's fair in a water war when the temperature passes 90 degrees!

Jammin'

We are strawberry jammin at O'Brien Headquarters. The first crop of berries is being harvested and what doesn't land in the mouth, or in tarts, or dipped in chocolate, or transformed into pie or shortcake, will end up preserved in the jam.

There is nothing like homegrown strawberry jam and Dutch oven biscuits along the banks of the Rogue River. Are you hungry yet?!

Happy Mother's Day from the Rogue River!

What a beautiful day here in the Rogue Valley. Mother Nature is dressed up to help celebrate all the moms, grandmas, and even mothers-to-be! The dogwood trees are in full lacy-white bloom throughout the river canyon, the river willow is in its Sunday blue-silver-gray best, and the river is flowing in brilliant contrast to all of the blossoms along the banks of the Rogue River.

Happy Mother's Day to all the women who love, nurture, and care for others. Its River Time!

Spring has Arrived!

Yes, spring has arrived to the Rogue Valley and along with it so has the windy, rainy, hailing, cloudy, snowing!, foggy, icey, sunny weather! We are so lucky to live in a climate that expresses all seasons and all types of weather in one season.

The osprey have arrived with the spring and they are busy pairing up, feeding and nesting. It won't be long before the female sits on the nest and the male close by in his sentinel watch waiting diligently. The osprey mate for life and share the raising of the young in all types of weather, from extreme cold and wind to extreme heat, the adult osprey nurtures and raises the fledglings until it is time to migrate south. What a glorious life cycle.

Dig your Chacos out, grab your binoculars, camera, and hat, and come on out for some excellent birding in the perfectly-springtime-weather!
