The Charlie Act

What a great day out on the water! It was 103 degrees here in the Rogue Valley. The heat is on and the snow is melting. The water is flowing high and fast at nearly 6,500 CFS. Yep, that is a lot of water.

We were joined by Charlie, Jeri and Liddie. They are some of the best folks to be around either on or off the river, but we all agree the water is the best to be especially on a day like today! The late afternoon-early evening float was exactly what we all needed with the temperatures soaring over 100.

Speaking of soaring, we watched a pair of red-tailed hawks soar above the craggy, rock walls. We saw several osprey hunting and eating and the Great Blue Heron graced the banks looking for the catch of the day.

Liddie was a blast to watch on the front of the raft with her squeals of delight and good humor. She suddenly "slipped into the water" with the help of her guide and announced immediately that it was a "Charlie Act". Guess Charlie has been spending quite a bit of time on rafts lately!

The evening float ended with a delicious meal shared with dear friends and the almost full moon bidding us good night. Thanks for the perfect evening!

  1. We are hooked! It was an experiemce we will never forget. If you have never floated the Rogue with the O'Brien's, you need that experience. What an awesome time with the friendliest people on the river. Our daughter Liddie had the time of her life, floating down the river with Kari, riding in Tim's boat, and jumping in the Rogue. She says she is done with school and wants to live on the river now! The smells, colors, and fresh air will rejuvenate us to finish the school year with energy and pizzazz. Thanks for a great time and keep a life preserver and seat available.
