Pennsylvania Pair on the Rogue River

Greg and Donna joined us for an afternoon Half Day Raft Trip on July 16! They came with great enthusiasm and ready to paddle. After receiving VIP treatment at Rogue Forest Bed and Breakfast, the happy couple enjoyed a beautiful afternoon in both the raft and the inflatable kayaks. Greg ran Class III rapids like a pro and smiled all the way through the white water! Donna took a turn at paddling the kayaks and made Widowmaker and Almeda look like kids play! It was a great day on the water!

Bring the Grandkids Too!

Jean is a world traveler and adventurer, and now she is teaching her grandkids the art of how to experience world class rivers. The Half Day Raft Trip with Jean, Tony and David was great! The boys ran the inflatable kayaks like pros and managed to keep each other cool with the skimming water action of a paddle. Jean enjoyed the scenic beauty of the river and remembering other trips enjoyed on the Rogue. It was a treat to spend some time with Jean and the boys. Come back soon!

Vacation Starts on the River

We were joined by an awesome couple, Steve and Tara of Eugene, Oregon, for a Full Day Rafting Trip on the Rogue! What awesome people. The Full Day Raft Trip was Opening Day and the start of Steve and Tara's vacation in Southern Oregon. There is something about River Time that can instantly transport anyone into vacation mode.

Dragon flies were in abundance, turtles poked their heads out of the river, the water was refreshing enough to take a ride through a riffle in the life jacket, and to ride "The Bull" through Lower Argo! The rafting trip was filled with great company, interesting stories, and fantastic folks. We are lucky to know Steve and Tara and feel fortunate to have shared some time on the water with them. Thanks for a wonderful day!

Teen Rafting Camp 2008!

WOW! What a fantastic week! We had happy campers from every corner of Oregon and the Napa Valley. The teens were fun, energetic and positive people. We enjoyed paddle rafting as a team, water games, water fights (John and Jeff were officially knighted!), individual inflatable kayaking, cooking around the campfire and many great stories! Some campers had been with us before and others were new to the Rogue River! Each camper brought his or her own unique personality, humor and camaraderie. Friendships were made, trust was built and experiences on the river shared.

The "Circle of Trust" was a great game to play on "The Beast". Campers stood on the edge of the raft and held hands in a circle to see if they could trust the rest of the group. Well, some lost their balance, but the camper rafters proved to be trustworthy, with Tobin holding out the longest. Another great game was the "Chicken Run". The camper kayakers lined up their boats side by side and one camper at a time tried to run across the front of the boats without falling into the water. Justin may have been the only champ. Then there was "River Jousting". The campers tested their skills at standing in the kayak and took on a balancing act. It was agreed Audrey held out the longest next to Karyn the river guide!

There was plenty of food all day long and the campers helped prepare some of the meals like "Campers in a Sleeping Bag" at breakfast, campfire pizza at dinner and the ultimate meal prepared by Danny, Jeanina and Audrey: Rocky Riffle River Scramble and Peach Cobbler! S'mores were enjoyed by all in the evening light and the story telling was stretched to amazing limits!

Swimming, floating, paddling, rafting, kayaking, dumping (we think Cameron walked on water!) eating, sharing, smiling, laughing, playing, talking, inflating, stacking, loading, unloading, more smiling, more laughing River Time! Thanks for a terrific camp and a summer to remember!

Independence Day

Happy Fourth of July! What a great way to celebrate the freedom and liberties we all enjoy on a daily basis by Rafting the Rogue River. This year marks 232 year of Independence. It was a beautiful day in Southern Oregon. Our lunch along the riverbank was festive with Old Glory decorating the table. Happy Independence Day!

Whitewater Rafting with the Reifler Family

We were very fortunate to meet three generations of the Reiflers, (Erin, Katherine, Susan, Doug, Maria and Ron)this week! The trip was a blast with this genuine family. We all enjoyed the Full Day Raft Trip with temperatures in the 90's, turtles, otter and deer were out to greet us, a terrific variety of birds, and exquisite views of the river, rapids, and canyons.

Lunch at Red Rock was followed by a rock skipping session and swimming in the calm, cool pools of water. The chocolate brownies didn't slow anyone down as we played in the river. The afternoon whitewater brought out the warriors in all of us! The super soakers were passed around and we had the greatest water fight ever witnessed on the Rogue River! We aren't sure if anyone declared victory in the magnificent battle, but everyone: stranger, friend and family was soaked!

Thank you for a trip to remember: a day filled with good will and kindness toward others and of course, a wonderous water fight!

All Women's Rafting Trips

If you have been searching for an All Women's Rafting Trip, search no further! We offer an All Women's Rafting Trip run by, you guessed it, all women! Okay, we have great guys who live and work with us too, but lets take a look at "the girls"!

Kari has been guiding on the Rogue River for 29 years and specializes in 'Wave Therapy'! Early days of inflatable kayaking, canyon trips and rowing Rogue Inflatables as a favorite past time has continued across nearly three decades. Kari enjoys cooking around the campfire at the grill or with a dutch oven, sharing river stories, never-ending-outrageous water fights, big waves, deep canyons, and living the dream daily between the banks of the Rogue River with family and friends, old and new.

Karyn is a third generation rafter and legend has it was rocked to sleep on the bottom of a raft as early as six months old! Karyn is both a rower and a paddler. She enjoys the thrill of whitewater, the victory of a perfectly executed run and a never ending jousting session! She is the epitome of "girl power" in a tiny package and she is a 'River Hippie' at heart.

Alyssa has lived along the banks of the Rogue River all of her life. She is the original 'Hippie Chick' and life on the river suits her style! Alyssa works hard to find the biggest hole to paddle into, sets up camp, backs up rigs at the boat landings, rows "the big boat", hangs a hammock at any given opportunity and will duel with any willing jouster on the water! Alyssa loves life and adventure.

The women at O'Brien's Rogue River Outfitters work together in a way that puts others at ease, invites participation, builds confidence and trust, and encourages humor. All of the lessons the Rogue River has to offer in a single gender! Join us with as few as three or as many as 20 for an All Women's Rogue River Rafting Trip!
